This is the real reason Sephora CEO Calvin McDonald leaved the firm

Calvin McDonald recently leaved Sephora as the President and CEO of the Americas and this is the REAL reason he leaved the firm.

Calvin McDonald leaded Sephora for over 4 years in North and South America. He recently left the firm to start as the CEO of Lulumon, a fairly unknown sports brand. McDonald is replacing Laurent Potdevin, who was ousted earlier this year amid allegations of conduct violations. McDonald helped Sephora become a “mobile-first” brand during his time there, and he is expected to bring the same mindset and focus to Lululemon, which will be key for the company as more retail sales move online.

So why has Calvin McDonald leaved Sephora?

Lululemon was among the first to kick off the “athleisure” trend, but faced extreme competition from NIKE and many other populair (bigger) brands. Truth is that Lululemon isn’t selling anymore and McDonald is seen as the best person to lead the firm. In a recent Linkedin-post McDonald wrote:

“This week, I have the chance to begin my dream job, and I’m beyond excited to be starting at lululemon. As I spent time with my family over the past few weeks, I carved out some time to prepare for my first 100 days with a new organization. It made me think about first days and first impressions – a new school, a new neighborhood, a new role, or joining a new company. Each represents unchartered territory, and each creates an opportunity to build upon our individual experiences and learnings.”

We wish him succes and hope he will succeed!
