Astragalus Benefits

Astragalus is an essential component to staying healthy and young, is a natural plant that will help us feel better every day. What properties does this plant have?

It has flavonoids, saponins, amino acids, immunostimulating polysaccharides, trace elements, and triterpenes. Its roots have minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc or potassium.

This medicinal plant has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, expectorant, antioxidant, diuretic, vasodilating, healing, anti-diabetic, hypotensive and anti-tumor activity.

AstragalusImproves heart conditions, fights fatigue, and tiredness promotes the recovery of kidney ailments and tone the spleen. It mainly protects the respiratory tract.

A healthy body sets the stage for your daily well-being and how well you can grow old. Maintaining fitness through proper nutrition and exercise promotes efficient circulation, digestion, and skeletal muscle strength.

This allows you to have an active life and a healthy immune system that helps you prevent diseases. Also, the benefits of a healthy body are also extended to an improvement in mood. By keeping your metabolism working well, you enjoy more energy and fewer aches and pains.

However, nighttime rest periods allow your body to repair the cells and perform other maintenance activities. A poor sleep or diet can deprive your body of these essential elements and produce fatigue. Sufficient nutrition, on the other hand, gives you a good mental and physical condition. Regular exercise makes your bones, muscles, heart and lungs healthy and prepares them to meet the daily demands.

My best advice is to buy Astragalus in powder and add it to natural juices or soy milk blend as well as in a tea blend. I am leaving you here a list of some forms of preparations, just remember to consume enough fiber when using it.

Astragalus powder consistency is a little bit raw so whenever you prepare it, I recommend adding two spoons of either flax seed powder or Psyllium per each spoon of Astragalus.

On Mondays, I prefer to drink it with one glass of soy milk and two spoons of flax seed powder, one spoon of grounded walnuts, two spoons of oat and four spoons of natural yogurt. I blend all the ingredients including a spoon of Astragalus powder, then enjoy your drink.

On Wednesday I always prepare it in this way one cup of pineapple dices, two thin slices of cucumber, two glasses of water and of course one spoon of Astragalus and two spoons of psyllium. I blend all the ingredients for three minutes, then just drink it.

Finally on Fridays I use one cup of Papaya Dices, one glass of orange juice and three strawberries, of course, two spoons of flax seed and one of Astragalus. Blend all the ingredients and then drink them.

With only three days a week I get a few years less as you could see at the beginning of the article, so no excuses and become younger right now.

Mixing one teaspoon of Astragalus powder with Ginger powder to have a hot cup of tea is another good idea and one of my favorites, but you can create your own mixtures and be pending to our next posts.

Special Precautions & Warnings by WebMd.com:

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the safety of astragalus in humans during pregnancy and breast-feeding. However, some research in animals suggests that astragalus can be toxic to the mother and fetus. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

“Auto-immune diseases” such as multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), or other immune system conditions: Astragalus might make the immune system more active. This could worsen the symptoms of auto-immune diseases. Avoid using astragalus if you have any of these conditions.
